Black Horizon

New work by Marc Hemeon

What does it feel like to live in a world that won’t hold still?

Waves rising from unseen forces.
Depth without a bottom.

Black Horizon captures that moment at sea when you’re surfing or on a boat and you look out, only to see nothing but dark water rising up and swallowing up your entire view. For an instant, the ocean replaces the sky.

It’s terrifying.

And yet, there is a thin seam of light across the top. A glimmer of hope. A reminder that even the wildest seas eventually return to calm.

There are few feelings more primal than the terror of being overtaken by the ocean. I’ve felt it out there on the water, and I’ve felt it in life.

And yet… I’m still here.
And so are you.

The black horizon may blot out the sky for a moment, but never forever. 🌅
