New Work - Sky No 1. (as it should be)

Sky No.1 Oil on Canvas 105” x 55”

Hey everyone, how was your thanksgiving? I find the holidays always to be a complex swarm of emotions, so much so this year I used the energy to revisit a painting I had in my collection - Sky No.1.

I have not painted in over a year, instead I have been deeply focused on building a new company and prioritizing my relationship with McKinsey. However something really rose up in me and I had a huge upwelling of emotion and energy this past holiday week and I locked myself in my studio and finished this piece.

I wanted to capture the atmosphere and emotion of a sky I saw over Costa Rica during a more simple time. I felt like I was viewing the doorway to heaven and God was saying hello. There is an art movement I love from the 1880s called American Tonalism where artists begain painting landscapes with and an overall tone of colored atmosphere or mist - Mark Rothko is said to have been inspired by the American Tonalism painters. Its this spirity I tried to imbue into this latest painting. Somewhere that sits between reality and a dream.

If this painting interests you and you would like to acquire it please shoot me an email [email protected] or DM me on instagram - Sky No. 1 is 105” x 55” Oil on Canvas - due to its large size, please check your space before acquiring.

Thank you all for your support. I hope you have an amazing December.

Be well,

Marc
