Permission to Dream

I want you to become the best version of yourself and then share that person with the world. Have you ever taken a moment and written down 3-5 goals you want to achieve in 25 years?

One of my 25 year goals is to be a prolific artist who has artwork in collections and museums around the world. To achieve this would be pretty crazy - to the point I really wouldn’t be able to explain it. Thats the kind of goals I hope you have for yourself.

Writing things down feels so easy and trivial - so much so that we don’t do it. But writing our goal down allows us to co-create with the universe. Remember we are NOT our thoughts, when we write something down we are giving ourselves a north star to guide us - a reason to say no to opportunities that do not align with us anymore and a guide for when to say yes.

I switched from a 20 year career in tech to being a full time artist because I have a new north star - to be a prolific artist. When I share this with friends and family something magical happens - people reflect back to me their dreams - of writing or art or owning a business - and I see a light go on and i can feel their energy building up on dormant dreams they have neglected.

When we give ourselves permission to dream and focus in on what we want to achieve and why we want to achieve it (dont get bogged down by the how), then the world starts to open up to us. Its NOT easy to pursue what you want, there is struggle and effort and a non-stop daily focus on daily routine and standards that must be constantly reinvested in. As they say - we dont rise to our goals, we fall to the level of our systems.

One of my art mentors, Ran Ortner - shared something with me that I read almost everyday that gives me the strength to keep going:

“All possibilities have their own extraordinary difficulties. To do the safe thing, to be the most practical, can be mind-numbing in the extraordinary scale of how difficult that is. Since there are no paths that are just plain easy. I like to choose the path with heart. At least then it’s a living worth scraping…” —Ran Ortner

There is inside each of us a calling to do something that we are afraid of. If we can trust ourselves and the universe, then we can tap into an infinite source of joy and growth and power. This path is not without immense effort and discipline. The money takes care of itself. Remember, There are no paths that are just plain easy.

THANK YOU to everyone who came out to support the show - you still have time to check out my solo show at The Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica, CA. - its free to see.
